Wednesday morning July 14th Troy and Judy and I had breakfast at the Oak Street Cafe in Sweetwater at 6:00am. We had gotten up early so that Troy and I could take advantage of the morning coolness to load the U-Haul Truck to come back to Fort Worth the next day. After eating Troy and I drove past the UP depot a few blocks to the west and saw the headlight of an eastbound train off of the Toyah Sub slowing down for a crew change.
Heading into the rising sun, the UP 7758 East slid to a stop in front of the depot platform with a stack train in tow.
A few seconds later I caught this crew menber on his way into the depot.
We jumped in the SUV and made our way to the underpass a few blocks east and then back west to Oak Street to frame up this view as the train pulled out a few minutes later.
I crossed over to the west side of Oak Street for this view of the shops as the DPU UP 7908 roared by.
A couple of good shots in the bag by 7:10am was a great way to start the day!
