On Friday the 26th at lunch I lucked into catching the UP’s Abilene Local leaving Fort Worth with a GP60 and the unpatched Cotton Belt GP40-2 7284 for power.
This meant the GP40-2 would be leading on the way back from Abilene on Saturday morning, and that would be something to look forward to. Late Friday afternoon I once again joined up with David and Terry from Indiana, and hearing the FWWR coming back from Cresson we set up in Forest Park. When the train arrived the tree shadows were creeping up on the trestle, but the lead unit was still in full sun.
Looking back the lashup turned out to be the exact same one from the evening before with the 2017 leading. We did not mind as the scenery was an improvement over the day before.
