This morning thanks to tips from David Hawkins on the way to work I drove by Davidson Yard to look for the UP 1983, the Western Pacific Heritage SD70ACe that came in from Wichita during the night. Not finding the unit to be visible from the street, I put on my personal protection equipment and UP contractor ID to take a look around the outside of the shop building. I found the unit on the west side of the shop building, so I was able to photograph it from the parking lot without any trouble.
The 1983 left this evening as the trailing unit on a Houston train, so I’ll be satisfied with these three shots until I can get better lighting. Having already caught the MP, M-K-T and SP units here, the D&RGW unit in Denver and the C&NW unit in St. Paul, this morning makes six out of six Heritage units for my photo collection. I’m looking forward to seeing the MTH and Athearn units later this year!
