Finishing Day One

My first of three days at Abo was coming to a close, and next the dispatcher told an eastbound empty coal train it would be stopping at Sias to meet two westbounds that would come through the canyon as soon as the HBARTUL9 had cleared West Scholle.  The sun came out for a few minutes as the westbound signal at East Sais once again showed a high green.

Before long the BNSF 5400 West leading a QALTLAC1 from home roared past my location.

Close to 4:30pm the sun put in a brief but final appearance for this day on the southwestern horizon.

Twenty minutes later the second westbound in the form of the BNSF 4763 leading a loaded GBRDGUC9 grain train rolled by as the engineer transitioned from dynamic braking back to power.

One more going-away shot of the loaded grain train meeting the empty coal train and I decided to call it a day here, as the endless parade would be waiting for me again when the sun came up in the morning.

Another two years and the meets here will be gone forever as new double track will make them largely obsolete.
