I stopped by the dispatcher’s office where the FWWR has installed a new Railcomm computer-based Track Warrant Control Dispatch system. In this photo on the left you can see one of the three flat screens that covers the whole railroad, while on the right is the old magnetic board that had been in use up until now.
A link to the system’s description on Railcomm’s website can be found at:

I learned a FWTO Fort Worth to Tolar Turn would be leaving Hodge in a few minutes, so I said my goodbyes and drove over to Windsor Place at the top of the grade up from the Trinity River. Soon the 2016 along with the other three straight SD40’s and dash-2’s on the property came roaring up the hill with 75 cars totaling over 9,500 tons.
In addition to clay and mud products, part of the loads consisted of more drilling pipe going to Cresson for the Barnett Shale.
A few hundred yards behind the FWTO train was Grapevine’s North Pole Express that had been making round trips all day between the Stockyards and Eighth Avenue.
GP7 2199 was leading four cars, one of which was decorated with this sign advertising the event.
This put enough closure on the day for me so I headed home. This post puts closure on 2008 as the last post of the year. After more than two years working on this site today is post number 1,086. How many people are out there now that actually read this stuff? How about some comments to end 2008!

I, for one, am still out here reading your every blog and viewing each photo. Especially enjoying your Abo Canyon trip blog and photos. Looking forward to the Trains Magazine article. Keep up the good work.
Ken,
Just to let you know, I have been enjoying the site ever since I met you at the Denver convention. (Still waiting to see your pictures from the Republican convention, but what a trip you had getting there!).
Keep up the great work!
I check the blog daily. I pay closer attention to the FWWR postings more so. I live 5 blocks from the Dublin sub (Granbury Road between I-20 and Hulen) and I Try to catch the traffic. I’m typically late as the only warning I get is very noticable horn blasts as they make the grade crossings.
Hey Ken….Yep, I keep an eye on your website. Im STILL holding out that someday FWWR may actually DO something over here in Dublin worth reporting on.
I still check up on you once or twice a week and read the goings on. I don’t live there but find the DFW railfan scene very interesting.
I check up on your site nearly everyday.
Ken I can’t say enough about your website, it is excellent. I log on once to twice a day to see what has been posted on your site. Keep up the good work
Ken
I read it every time I log on…Which means daily.
Keep up the good work. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
