2 x 2 Grain at Broadway

Filed under Daily Doings | Posted by KenFL9 at 8:10 am

Friday June 20th was a slower day for me during the NRHS convention as I prepared for the BNSF  ”Quanah Flyer” trip the next day on Saturday.  Later in the afternoon I joined some of the visiting and local railfans down at the west side of the tracks at Broadway Street.  The most interesting catch was a big BNSF grain train with “2 x 2″ power just like a coal train.  Here is the first shot of the BNSF 5524 South passing the now closed grade crossing.

As the two lead units moved away down the Fort Worth Sub I framed them up with a northbound UP train in the Ney Bypass.

The DPU power was interesting in that one of the pair was an older SD60M.

I did not count the cars, but this was one long, long train as it snaked out of sight.

I bid farewell to the group so I could catch TRE train 2925 in a nearby location that I had putting off until today.
