The Dallas Skyline
When our group arrived with the three MATA streetcars for our final night shot sequence, we set up our tripods on the sidewalk along North St. Paul where the street crosses over the Woodall Rogers Freeway. You could not have asked for a more interestingly lighted building in the background, but at the time I never thought to ask about or look for the building’s name. If anyone knows what it is, please share it with us. Too bad some of the neon lighting was out, but you can’t always have everything you want. I used my wide-angle zoom here, and in this first shot I did not do any post-processing as far as lens correction as I liked the curve of the building as exagerated by the lens.
For the second shot I zoomed in some on the “Petunia” and the “Green Dragon”.
In retrospect the third shot is my personal favorite, and I did correct the wide-angle lens distortion on this one.
I zoomed in once again to highlight the two streetcars for the final scene of the night.
Thanks go out to Steve Barry and Alex Mayes for providing the ”portable sun”, and a special thanks to MATA’s John Landrum, Chief Operating Officer and motormen Zak Lybrand and Michael Sullivan for their time and effort in making this a great event at the last minute!
