Memorial Day Sightings
After getting some much needed sleep Sunday night, Judy and I met friend Scott Herring in Arlington for lunch on Memorial Day. Afterwards on the way home the hotbox detector at milepost 50 at the beginning of the Midlothian Sub alerted us to an unknown southbound leaving Ney Yard. We hopped off of I20 and made our way trackside in Forest Hill. I barely had time to get the camera out and turned on before the BNSF 775 South came chugging by with a manifest train at around 50mph.
Later in the afternoon while on the way home from the market I made another short notice catch. While westbound on Rosedale we came across a UP manifest leaving Davidson Yard also westbound on the Baird Sub. Thanks to its low initial speed we were able to beat the 7737 West to Boaz Park in Benbrook for this shot of three flag units running at track speed through the park’s wooded area.
This now marked the end to a long, long holiday weekend!
