Return to Saginaw

Having been awake since Saturday morning at 8:00am, when I returned to the Saginaw depot Sunday afternoon at 5:00pm for an NRHS volunteer meeting, I was just about done in.  I suppose it is that getting old thing again.  Two interesting observations were made during this visit.  Before the meeting, BNSF SD60M 8197 in an old experimental Heritage paint scheme came by as the trailing unit on a grain train.

After the meeting as I was about to head home, a northbound manifest showed up with the BNSF 4717 leading.

Unfortunately I did not have my tape recorder, as the 4717 was equipped with a now rare for the BNSF Leslie S5T horn, just like what I had blown the day before during the “24 Hours at Saginaw.”  It too sounded great echoing off the elevators.
