High Sun
On Sunday the 18th I hooked up with friends Scott Herring and Troy Minnick to visit and see a few trains. By mid-morning we were alerted by Mike and Steve Bledsoe that a BNSF passenger train that had left Fort Worth southbound around 7:00am had turned around at Temple and was now headed back north. Our calculations put it back in Fort Worth around 1:00pm, and with the sun now high overhead, we decided to catch it from the South Main Street overpass. After we parked, Troy and Scott spotted this interesting plaque at the foot of the bridge that we had never noticed before.
At 1:03pm the passenger special rolled through Birds and then past our cameras on the approach to Tower 55.
The BNSF 5279 was leading Power Car 77; Rollins Pass; Flathead River; Powder River; Lake Superior; Valley View; with the full-dome and rear-glass Glacier View bringing up the tail end.
Time to get ready now to go show slides tonight at the “24 Hours at Saginaw” and then come back to blow horns at noon tomorrow. Hope to see you there, and otherwise have a nice long weekend!
