Rock and Grain

The weather was considerably better back in Fort Worth on Thursday May 8th when I made a quick trip to Hodge Yard to deliver a few things.  On the way back to the office I passed by Tower 60 just in time to record this northbound UP empty rock train with 5 GP60’s moving from Choctaw Main One to the Duncan Sub bound for Chico.

As the last car was passing I heard a distinctive Nathan K5LLA blowing for the crossings coming south on Choctaw Main One from Deen Road.  This meant either an SD70 ACe or a M-2, and the question was answered a few minutes later as this southbound loaded grain train from BNSF North Yard came into view.  The dynamic brakes were howling as NS SD70M-2 2743 leading two BNSF GE’s headed on south towards Tower 55.

One more move was in store before I left the scene.
