TXI Railport
I followed Gifco Road back to Highway 67 and drove west towards Venus. After passing the old AT&SF yard along the highway the fact I had not been down here in two years or so was proven when I came across the entrance to the TXI Railport.
Sretching south from a wye off of the BNSF Venus Sub / Ward Industrial Spur was a fairly large yard that contained a number of cars and the five units from the Box coal train I had photographed at Tower 55 on Saturday morning. Two ex-BN units were busy switching on the lead, visible from a nearby county road.
A little closer to Venus off of Highway 67 the venerable junk yard switcher was still in residence on its small spur track.
In the BNSF yard at Venus the UP 3343 and four other units that had brought a train down the Midlothian Sub from Fort Worth were tied down.
I had thought about going on west to Cleburne, but several phone conversations with David Hawkins changed my mind, and at Alvarado I turned north on I35 with Saginaw as my destination.
