A Last Patch of Light

Thanks to I35 and Crowley Road, John and Brian and I made it to Crowley about ten minutes ahead of the southbound BNSF grain train led by the KCSM 4094.  The radio alerted us to a northbound empty grain train that was waiting to take the siding once the southbound got close enough, so we caught the BNSF 7786 North at the Magnolia Street crossing near the south end of town.

As the northbound slowly came to a halt in the siding and the mainline signal at the south end turned green, we could see the headlight and hear the distinctive horn of the southbound racing towards us.  I moved to a nearby spot on the tracks where the last rays of the sun were concentrated only a minute or so before it would slip below the horizon, and waited for the lead unit to move into it.

One final pan froze the new SD70ACe in the last light before we said goodbye for the night.

We will probably be bored with these units someday when they became more common, but for now they are worth the chase!
