Overnight in Enid

Filed under Daily Doings | Posted by KenFL9 at 7:38 am

Late on a chilly night in November of 1982 M-K-T GP7 109 is idling in the engine terminal at Enid, Oklahoma as huge grain elevators are brightly lit in the background.

MKT 109 Enid OK 11-23-82

This ex-Rock Island facility is operated by the Union Pacific today, but back in 1982 the Katy operated the line from Fort Worth, TX to Herrington, KS as the Oklahoma-Kansas-Texas Railroad.

Things have really change up there. The RIP tracks and tracks that were used to store MOW equipment on the east side of the yard, the two stall engine service shed, several buidlings have been removed. There are several other tracks that have either been removed or shortened. The place looks a lot cleaner though.
