Family Day Part 3

Filed under Daily Doings | Posted by KenFL9 at 3:03 pm

The event’s passenger train ride to Iona and back over the Baird Sub had left on its first trip before I arrived.  When it returned I saw it consisted of a pair of new Gensets with what I think are two of John Radovich’s ex-Amtrak coaches and an ex-Amtrak baggage car refitted as a power car sandwiched in between.  Here is a view of the east end as the train pulled up to the loading spot.

There was a large group of passengers waiting to board for the second trip.  Every trip this day ran with no empty seats.

This view shows the whole consist from the west end.

Now I am back up on the employee footbridge for a bird’s-eye view looking west.

While I was up there I took this view looking west towards the bowl tower.

A moment later I recorded this eastbound freight leaving the bowl heading towards Tower 55.

I could easily spend all day up here!

interesting that the UP couldn’t provide passenger equipment of its own, isn’ it?

Yes, it is. I was told every UP car was booked elsewhere for this day.
