Meet at Davis

I am sitting in our motel room in Oklahoma City Saturday morning as I type this.  So far we are having a great time at the SFRH&MS 2007 convention, and my slide presentation last night on the ATSF in Oklahoma in the 1970’s was well received.  The train/bus trip to Ardmore and return on Thursday was a lot of fun, and photos will follow in the next few days.  Wednesday on the drive up Judy and I paused at Davis so I could photograph a pair of units tied down waiting for a rock train to be loaded at the south end of town.  Suddenly the radio came alive with the news of an impending meet, so we waited a few minutes more.  The BNSF 4017 North puling a stack train showed up first and took the siding.

This now blocked our view of the mainline, so we repositioned to the south end of the siding for this shot of a loaded grain train led by a repainted SD70M.  The rear of the stack train can be seen in the distance on the left.

There were more trains coming, but now we needed to highball on to Oklahoma City.
