Deja Vu
When the next UP westbound came past my camera at Tecific after the meet at Eskota, the lead unit that had sounded familiar now looked familiar also.

After breakfast there was nothing to do around the house, so Dad and I headed back to Sweetwater to see what we could find. The radio provided our first catch when the UP’s MFWOD called the depot to say they were leaving Tecific and what supplies were needed. The early morning had been dominated by low and fast-moving clouds, but now the sun came out briefly just as the train arrived in town.

Saturday the 16th after lunch in Sweetwater, dad and I started out to see what trains we could find. An eastbound UP “Z” train with the NS 9503 leading was heard on the radio approaching Sweetwater to change crews, so dad and I headed out to the grade between Eskota and Trent. Before long I was able to capture this shot of the train coming across a slight hogback and then upgrade towards me on its way to Fort Worth and beyond.

Saturday morning I started out early to visit my father in Sweetwater. Low, fast moving clouds dominated the trip west, and the Baird Sub was very quiet. I pulled off at Judd for a few minutes to stretch my legs, and was greated by dark signals and more silence. Just as I was getting back in the radio came to life repeating an all clear from the hot box detector a few miles west near Gordon. I got ready, and in a few minutes was rewarded with the BNSF 4129 East.
