Great Northern Symbols

We arrived back in Fort Worth from Montana on Train 21 last Friday with great memories and hundreds of photos to share.  The weekend has been busy with unpacking, catching up on bills, and buying groceries.  I did manage to process one photo so far symbolic of the region we visited.  The Chessie had its cat, and the Great Northern had its goat nicknamed “Rocky.”  On Friday the 13th, our first full day in Essex, a few miles southeast of town I caught sight of this Rocky Mountain Goat mother goat and her baby.

They were navigating over a pile of rocks high above the Middle Fork of the Flathead River as easily as you or I would walk down a smooth sidewalk.  Stay tuned for a mix of old and new in the coming days!

Passing Hicks Field

Burlington Northern SD40-2 #7828 is seen leading four more units on an empty coal train as it passes by Hicks Field just north of  Saginaw, TX in April of 1995.  Today this shot cannot be duplicated due to trees growing up and blocking the view.
