A Fairbanks-Morse Representation

In yesterday’s post we saw three SP EMD switchers, so it is only fair that today we see some Fairbanks-Morse.  While on a family vacation to California at age 17, on February 25th in 1972 I was able to record two different H-10-44’s.  I had a little sun for the first one, and with the help of a friendly roundhouse foreman at South San Francisco, I was able to photograph #2360 resting between assignments.  Check out those original steam locomotive mars lights!

Later in the day I had less sun at San Jose, but a much more lively performance from #2396 blowing smoke as it accelerated away from a cut of cars in the yard.

Tomorrow I’ll see if I can post a few shots of their big brothers, the Trainmasters in commuter service.
