Three New Warbonnets on August 10th

November of 1990 found me back in my old stomping grounds on Curtis Hill in northwest Oklahoma.  On this morning I was out between Belva and Heman when the sun came up on an eastbound intermodal pulled by three new GE B40-8W’s.  The reflections were intense off of the fresh paint.

The lead unit #522 looks clean enough to use as a mirror.

Sixteen years later a few of these units now wear the BNSF Heritage paint scheme, while the rest still wear a now tattered and patched warbonnet.
