This past Sunday morning I headed up to FWWR Hodge Yard to check out the latest GP50 from National Railway Equipment. FWWR #2011, named the “Miss Etta” in honor of an early Fort Worth patron of the arts, looks fresh after its trip from Illinois over the UP.
This GP50 started life in 1980 as the CNW 5089, then became the UP 5547, then the FURX 2939, and finally the NREX 2939 before being sold to the FWWR as the 2011. It took me a few minutes to notice the FWWR logo on the 2011 is a new design. Here it is on the right as compared to the 2010 on the left.
The 2011 will be used in the yard and on the Cresson Turn until it has proven itself, and then it will roam on down to Dublin.

Very classy new logo! The “FORT WORTH & WESTERN” looks like it “pops out” a little more too.
And since it’s not too radical of a departure from the old one, mixed consists of new and old shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Now if they can just paint the 2163…
