All the GP50’s on June 25th
I was moving slowly this morning until I checked in with the FWWR dispatcher. All three GP50’s were heading west out of Hodge with a Dublin Turn, and they would be followed shortly by a military train. That got me motivated, so I got dressed and caught the FWDU train with the 2010 leading at Belt Junction as they moved out on to the Dublin Sub.
I drove ahead of him to an open spot at about milepost 5.5 south of Hulen Street, but was in the clouds until the last second before I hit the shutter release.
I paced him on down to the west switch at Primrose where they were going to pick up cars for Dublin. Thanks to the grass cutting contractor, I had a good open shot of all three units as they uncoupled from the train.
The sun favored the reverse move into the siding with the 2009 on the point, and I was ready for it.
All too soon they were done, and 2010 rolled out the smoke as they passed me on their way west with Dublin being their next stop.
Roughly 90 minutes later the stillness at Primrose was broken by the passage of the TFM 1652 West manned by an FWWR crew, which along with a BNSF SD70MAC was pulling a military equipment train off of the KCS.
The plan was for the military train to pass the FWDU while the GP50’s were switching at Dublin before their return to Fort Worth as the DUFW. It was getting pretty hot now and the sun was high, so I decided it was time to go home and find something to do indoors.
