A Brief Visit to Saginaw on May 28th
My wife and I went to the train show at Will Rogers this morning and it was most enjoyable as we saw many familiar faces. I had to work Sunday afternoon, so overall it ended up being a day with no train pictures taken. Luckily I saved these shots from Saturday afternoon when Judy and I drove up to Saginaw after the rock and gem show. I wanted to visit the 24-hour train watching event and deliver some prints to Brian Tindle, but we did not have much time before a dinner appointment with friends. As we got off of I820, I heard the BNSF 5966 North leaving North Fort Worth siding, so we headed down to the Meacham Boulevard overpass for a picture. Naturally the sun went behind a cloud only seconds before the train’s arrival.
The sun was back out for this view of the DPU, which was also a GEVO.
We followed him up to Saginaw Yard, and then arrived at the old Cotton Belt depot in time to deliver the prints to Brian and catch this southbound BNSF intermodal on iys way down to Tower 55.
Brian and I talked for a few minutes, and then the 5966 pulled by northbound towards the Wichita Falls Sub connection with a cloud once again shading its every move. Now I was determined to get a sunny picture, so Judy and I said a quick good bye to the successful event and headed up to CP11 where finally there was a break in the clouds just before he showed up after a signal delay. Now my luck was improving, and I shot the following sequence of his approach.
Tomorrow’s a holiday, and I’m sure I will be trackside at some point!
