A Meet At Eskota on March 24th

Filed under Daily Doings | Posted by KenFL9 at 11:31 am

My wife and I will be headed to Sweetwater tomorrow morning for a quick weekend visit with my father, so I thought it appropriate to revisit the area for today’s picture.  The UP’s Baird Sub has been upgraded in 2006 with welded rail, new signals, new sidings and CTC “islands” to support 70 mph running, but two years ago back in 2004 that work was just beginning, and the rails around Eskota just east of Tecific were still jointed.  An afternoon thunderstorm is brewing to the north as we look down the side of a westbound BNSF train holding the main for a meet with an easbound BNSF already in the siding.  The rail may be welded today and the signals upgraded, but this area is still dominated by ABS signalling with TWC and spring switches hand-thrown to enter a siding.

You’re almost there with the RSS feed FL. I figured it out but your link is bad on the lower right.

I think you’ll find that reading blogs and some other content is nicely done with an RSS reader. I’m using one for PocketPC (Windows Mobile 2003) and am about to add your site.

It didn’t work in my WinMobile 2003 reader. I’ll let you know how it works on a full reader for XP tonight.

In order for the feed:// url to work you need to map that protocol type to launch your feed reader. Check with your local help desk on mapping items in your browser.

It was a software issue with the particular RSS reader app (WinMobile 2003). I see you fixed the link … by removing it?

Yes, I removed it as the best solution for the time being. It and the other links under “Meta” that did not work to varying degrees were put there by default in the Wordpress Template I am using, and I did not see them serving any useful purpose at this time. I’m glad to hear you got the RSS working, as it was supposed to be turned on by default in my configuration. I’ll put something onto the site as to its availablity how to access it soon for the less technically inclined.
