The Hearne Depot on March 23rd

Filed under Daily Doings | Posted by KenFL9 at 11:33 pm

Since the train in yesterday’s daily log was headed towards Hearne, I thought it would be appropriate if we made it on into town today.  During a railfan trip in 1990, here we see a northbound SP train leaving Hearne for Corsicana and points east.   The lead Cotton Belt GP60 is about to pass over the ex-MP, then Union Pacific Austin to Palestine line.  Now both tracks are active Union Pacific mainlines, and a connection track has been added in the northwest quadrant.  The depot has been moved to the other side of Highway 6 also to the northwest, and hopefully will be restored to its full glory some day.
